In Response To: Removing dark spots (Suzanne Rogers)

Suzanne didn't mention the wood type or whether it is solid or veneer. What would concern me is if it is solid oak and the stains are from water. If they are, the stains could be the minerals in the water reacting with tannin in solid oak. Last summer i did a Victorian lamp table in solid oak with such a stain. The regular wood bleaches did nothing and I even went to the extent of trying swimming pool "shock"......the chlorine used in pools. That's about as strong as there is but it didn't touch the stain. My fix? It is my own table.......I put a lamp over the stain. Sorry.
