My Sister recently purchased a cedar chest from Salvation Army store. It is in very good condition. She is trying to identify it and get information of its manufacture and its build date for insurance purposes. Inside the lid was a lable Describing it as a "Mountain Maid, Genuine Tennessee (Juniperas Virginiana), Red Cedar Chest, Hill-Hoel Mfg. Co. South Bend In. World Famed". Does anybody have any information about Hill-Hoel or perhaps where I should have her look for further identifying marks. Also could suggest other websites devoted to cedar chests and their histories, ar any other possible suggestion which you may consider helpfull for gleening more information about this chest. One other thing at the bottom were newspapers dating back to 1910 this may help in dating the chest. Any/All help with this would be graciously appreciated.
