In Response To: to bleach, or not to bleach? (Simon)

This sounds like a job for oxalic acid, I prefer to save chlorine bleach for extreme cases since it is very hard on the surface and requires extra sanding. Peroxide can be helpful as a two part bleach, mixed with chlorine bleach it will make an industrial stregnth blend like the expensive stuff they sell in paint stores. Most of these treatments will take a few applications to achieve the desired effect. You will save a lot of sanding time with bleach and the original surface on some pieces can be lost to a noticable result.
