I have an old oval shape table from approx. late 1800's era. The table has 2 wood center post, they are round solid oak, the width is 6", length is 2'. Both center post have split in a couple of different areas and one of the split is bad. The center post are made up of 5 oak boards glue together and then lathed, all the splits are where the boards were glued together. I'm sure its do to aging and drying of the wood, I found it in a old barn it had alot of dirt and dust and other things on it. How do I restore the center post back to its original condition. Please explain how this can be done and all the tools that are needed for the job. Thank you
