ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

Claw foot that was cut off

We just purchased a very pretty chest of draws that someone cut the toes off of one of the claw feet. The rest of it is in kinda rough condition. We are debating on whether we should cut the other toes off and attach (if we can figure out how) brass claw feet so they will both match, or cut both feet off and find wood feet and graft them. I have considered taking it to a restoration shop and having the toes re-made, but I am afraid of the cost. It does not need to remain original because we are turning it into a bathroom vanity.

Any suggestions on how to do this, or where we can find replacement feet at would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. Marydenyse
