Just one more concern here, and that is that once the laminate is off, you'll still have contact cement residue to remove which can be a job.It's tenacious stuff, and you'll have to dissolve it chemically and scrape it off. If it's a wood veneer your speaking of, then you'll have to steam it off in sections with and iron and damp rags, working it off with pallet knives and putty knives...and again remove the glue residue but the hide glue residue will be easier to remove with a sharpened cabinet scraper....
