I believe you are refering to a plastic (Formica) type laminate? This is a contact cement bond that can be heated with a clothes iron and as one corner is lifted, cut the loosening adnesive with a long thin fellet knife. Protective gloves are a good idea and an extra pair of hands as well. I have a heat gun that I aim into the devide between substrate and laminate, but the iron over top will work as well.
