THANKS JAMES -

your advise for glue type is greatly appreciated - i already settled ona long open time, and since i get lucky with some pretty low prices on antique furniture that needs a good bit of attention, i always use structural and finish supplies that can be reversed - never really thought of steam though - i usually microwave a bowl of water, guess it similar - have you ever had a problem with that intense heat wrecking the finish ? i suppose if you dont keep it on too long it can be safely used
