I have a set of four oak kitchen chairs that i am currently restoring. One of the seat chairs has a split across the middle of one of the three boards of wood that have been joined together to make the seat. The split is complete i.e., the board has broken in half. Someone seems to have tried to repair the seat before, as the surfaces of the broken board look to have glue on them and actuall now appear black. I want to do a thorough repair which has a low liklihood of breaking again. I am willing to put the time in to do the best possible job. What would you recommend I do? This is a great discussion baord and I look forward to any and all input! Simon.
