In Response To: Cleaning Chinese Lacquer Screen (Kim Hough)

I am also looking for information on cleaning my antique Chinese lacquer 4-panel screen with soapstone appliques. I know that it is a very valuable piece and has documentation from the dealer where my mother purchased it at the Chicago Merc. Mart. in the 70's. It is in very good condition but the lacquer needs cleaning. I have heard about using a strong tea mixture but was not too thrilled with the results when I tried it on a hidden area. Any suggestions. I thought perhaps some almond or lemon oil after cleaning would bring out the shine of the lacquer. Thanks for any help.
