ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

Can I make a chest look older?

I bought a chest on chest that looks to be solid oak but it is not antique and I wondered it I could maybe do something to the finish to make it look older.

It says Link/Taylor Countryside on the inside drawer. I have mostly older pieces in the BR so could I take some of the finish off with steel wool and maybe wax it?

I think it might be around 30-40 years old. It just looks so finished or something not really shiney but its light and I just would like it to look like something that does not have so much finish on it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Sandy
