This sounds easily fixable, but you need a professional for advice at the least. Get out the phone book and look for art restoration/ conservation in your area if no one on the board has more expert advice.
If the fracture is as tight fitting and easy to hold together as it sounds like, there are lots of glues that I know of that could be siphoned in to hold it well. If I had it I'd be sorely tempted to grab a bottle. But don't. Hold out till you get the word from someone who knows.
