Textured oak table

i was wondering if anyone can provide me with some advise regarding a 100 year- old oak table. the stain is about 80 percent intact as is the varnish. however, the corners, edges, and claw feet need to be refinished. now to the crux of the matter. the oak wood is very textured, lots of tiny grooves all over!! just thinking of the stripping and sanding makes me lose motivation to embark on the project. what would be the best way to strip and sand such compllicated type of wood? or is there a short cut to restoring the piece? any advise is greatly welcomed. Martin
