restoring old cracked oil mural on hard wood

Hi... I want to restore a very badly painted mural which has a very brown/yellow tinge to it. It was painted about 100 years ago for a synagogue. It it awful but the Rabbi wants to keep it. It is cracked all over and looks shiney (may have been varnished!) Any top tips would be really appreciated. IE: painting on very old cracked oils...matching that old brown tinge...etc. THANKS
