I have a great old oak desk which has been punished. Nail and screw holes where they don't below and some cracks with wood missing. I want to do some repair to keep the piece from further damage, ie the veneer at the edge of one hole is splitting and lifting a bit, edges of cracks are rough and if they catch I could end up pulling off more of the surface. So, can I fill the cracks with something. The finish is a dark honey color. I don't expect perfection but I'd like to make the repairs as unobtrusive as possible. Brandie
