I think most of the hardware for this item can be found at WSI dist. com Rust can be disolved with Navel Jelly, from the hardware store, but a little WD40 and 0000 steel wool, some light rust can be soaked off safely with oxalic acid, try some on the wood, it may help the dull color. The original was most likely a shellac finish, and this is a fine finish for this purpose. I am not impressed water-base finishes.
