Well you must have used a laytex paint, that is not a good idea for furniture, if that is the case. Always use oil base paint on furniture, but enough scolding, you can remove laytex with denatured alcohol and a scrub pad without harming many under coats. Btw, this should be a great way to get amy remaining wax off the piece. Then go back to the store that sold you laytex for furniture and tell them to replace the wrong paint with the right stuff, free of charge, good luck, James.
