Restoring Dining Room Table

I have an oak dining room table and 6 chairs, beleive to be 1910's. I have everything stripped. What should I use to fill the nicks/dents in the tabletop? I plan on staining to match woodwork in 1911 home. Also, do I need to use a grain filler, and what type of finish should I use? I have Deft brushing lacquer, will that hold up to the demands of a dining room table that will be used frequently? Thanks.
