In Response To: preserving old lithograph inside trunk (cathy)

Cathy>If the paper is in good shape and not porous or breaking, get a Q tip dipped in a solution of sodium hypochlorite (1 oz water mix with half oz Javex)and clean it by rubbing it gently.Let it dry then repeat the process but this time use 1 oz water with a teaspoon of lemon juice in it.(to neutralize the lye).Let it completely dry.If you like to preserve it brush on a light coat of damar varnish (art supply store)or white shellac(home depot)If one coat dries repeat the process if necessary.Have fun, good luck. Kind Rgds. A.W.Martin
