In Response To: change double bed to queen (l del)

Yes, it is possible to change a double to a queen. And the rails might have to be manufactured/reproduced. I modified a 19th century rope bed just recently and reproduced the new rails to length, just like the old ones. On one occassion, working on a beautifully carved Fench bed, we were able to manufacture 2" extensions, that matched the original mortise and tenons, for the rails. Along with custom reproduced bolts, made longer to accommodate them. Everything is dependant on the age and style of your bed, and of course the budget.
