Hi Greg, Thanks for the answer. Yes, the top is solid mahogany, the table is circa 1815 to 1825, so we want to keep the finish what it would have been originally. We tell our customers that they need to use coasters when they put anything on the table, and that it won't take heavy use, and so far, no problems. Unrelated question: I am trying to find Liberon for a fumed oak finish and I cannot locate them anywhere in the US. Does anyone have a link? Thanks again for taking the time to help, Nancy
