"They were exterior windows, they are now interior decorative objects". and thats what I said..just to be clear...

Cellular collapse happens on old exterior wood, especially if there was spalting..or fungi in the wood...as it dies off...the cellular structure of the piece will change, the precursors to the natural decaying process...most easily seen in one's stack of firewood...it just becomes "punky"..then it decays to compost.
