In Response To: Dry Rot Diagnosis (Patrick)

Sorry, but this is exactly what I mean. In the original post he specifically states that the windows are now inside! Ambient moisture will tell us what the moisture was in the original setting, a major factor. Comming from Europe I am concerned that the wood is infested from Powder Post Beetle, somthing that would not show up with a heavy paited finish. The moisture meter inspection was a suggestion for the purpose of giving us more information to go on, reguardless of the inspectors knolege of this matter. Bbefor we start squirting fluids into the wood, let's just see if his house is also in danger from some insect. Since most people wouldn't be able to tell what was causing the wood to disentegrate under the paint like this, while indoors, seems curious, doesn't it?
