In Response To: antique bed conversion (Lisa Nesz)

There are metal plates that bolt onto the existing bed that will extend the extra 4 inches or so to make the extra width. At times I will create a bracket from semilar wood and match the finish and design style so they don't look too strange. Using the same hardware so that the original rails can be used the new brackets are affixed in such a way that they can be removed later without harming the original design. If you need extra legnth on the rails then you could look back to some previous threads on this forum or let me know and I will go into that too.
