Most likely the value of your cedar chest will be determined by the local market. While these items are popular and valuable they have not to my knolege reached the automatic value of rated antiques such as a Stickley etc. The practical approach for you may be to visit E bay and see if items semilar to yours are up for auction and watch what the final price turns out to be. Other wise look in the antique stores where you are likely to see what semilar items are going for. A dealer, when asked this question, will always try to low ball the price in order to find a deal for them selves, as they must. I have paid as little as $25.00 at estate auctions for a very nice cedar chest, and the same piece could bring $250.00 in a retail setting to the right buyer, it's all relative.
