There are rug restorers who can reweave this kind of thing. The work requires matching the thread color with black light so that it will fabe evenly and not show in various light. Once you know the thread makeup you may have to build your own thread body by twisting together the required size. You will need a jewelers loop and high quality needles to build the thread in the weave fiber by fiber. Your locale library may be a good start as well as a museum in your area may be able to point you to an expert in your town.
