I am trying to refinish my grandmothers dropleaf dining room table with a (I believe)Maple veneer. I started to sand it and the veneer started to ship away from the sides. It is very dry. What is under the veneer? This table was made by the Jefferson Woodworking Co. Lousiville, Kentucky. I looked it up on the internet and the company is listed for sale. How can I find out what is under the veneer and what can I do now? The furniture store I took it in to suggested sanding through the veneer completely depending on what the wood is underneath? What are your suggestions? Help? I'm new at this.
