What I have used in the past and works very well is plan old Silicone caulking/glue that you can purchase at any walmart/hardware store. It is in a tube like caulking and applied with a caulking gun. I learned this from our local glass shop. It takes 12 hours to set, and stinks! but it is permanent and does not affect the backing of the mirror. Note: it must be pure silicone, not mixed with something else and is clear, not white.
