ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

Removing spray residue from Roseville vase.

I have an old Roseville Basket 709-8. It has some kind of residue on it that looks like a spray.

Itís a dull spray and it has worn off in places and looks dirty. I have tried to remove it with Windex and a cloth, and with a lot of work it will come off, and reveal a beautiful glossy look. The piece would look better with this film off.

Is there any cleaner or solvent anyone would recommend to get rid of this? I donít want to hurt the piece by rubbing on it too much.

Is there anything that I should not use that would hurt the finish?

Am I doing the right thing by trying to remove it?

Any help is greatly appreciated, I am going to give it to my wife for Christmas and need it to look the best it can by then.

Thanks for you time, Chris cjrock@pinestreetstudio.com
