Almost all mission came with Shellac as the finish, clean with paint thinner and steel wool, wipe off remains and dust lightly with spray Shellac. After an hour repeat the spray coat, wait eight hours and buff to match the rest with 0000 steel wool. Varithane is almost never appropiate for an antique, or any good wood item either.
