I think I already did all that you suggested. I used a freshly purchased can of denatured alcohol from Home Depot. The shellac flakes are dewaxed. I let the table sit for several weeks after cleaning before I started to shellac it. I tried to apply a light layer of alcohol (not with a spray bottle, but a soft cloth) to remove the streaks...that made it worse.

The only thing I can figure from your response is that there may have still been wax on the table. I scrubbed and scrubbed for days to get the grime off. I thought I had it all off.

If that's the problem, what't the solution? Do I need to remove the three ugly coats of shellac I already have applied? Do I need to strip down to bare wood with a chemical stripper? What's a "blush remover"? I never heard of that.

Thanks again! Maureen
