metal bed rail replacement part

I have a fancy (darlin') Victorian daybed made of chestnut with walnut trim etc. However, there's only one chestnut bed rail and even it is missing one metal gizmo that attaches it to the head/footboards. I can find chestnut to have a bed rail made, but I sure can't find the metal parts. I have some from other old beds but the sizes aren't the same PLUS the ones for my daybed attach to the rails with two screws, not the kind that look like horse shoes and need to fit between two pieces of wood. Do you know what Im talking about (what DO you call the pieces?)and where can I find the right-sized replacement parts? Joan Swigart
