I hope you are planning on replacing the veneer. If you do not the top will probably warp since the bottom is ususally veneered to maintain a balance. The best way to remove most veneers is with a hot iron. Set it onb linen and use a 4" putty knfe ot slide under the veneer as the glue loosens.
