In Response To: ironstone repair (Virginia)

Virginia , Objects as your pitcher and bowl when advertised as having been restored will always be rated (money wise) as less than if perfect. Depending on rarity / desirability , restoration may drop the value from 20 to 50% .

As far as restoration costs,a "guesstamet" would range $40 to $50 an inch . Maybe less if the crack isn't through a fussy pattern or multicolors. Even at that, it may be impossible to stabilize the crack from reopening or spreading even after the restoration is done. It will take a pro to really examine it to be sure. And don,t forget, full restoration means doing the inside too! For a list of restorers in your area use the site map on the home page to find the listings. If it were me, I'd be tempted to return it. Good Luck .Peter Dale
