Depending on how bad the veneer damage is you can either work new glue under the edges and clamp the veneer for 24 hrs or you may have to remove the veneer and reglue the entire piece. Color change will usually involve sripping the original finsh and then washing the old stain out with lacquer thinner then restaining and applying a new finish.
