Interim fix for Mahogany Veneer table top

My husband's grandmother left us her 1920s mahogany dining room set. It's beautiful, but in fair condition. I've obtained a few quotes to restore the entire set (all six chairs need to be repaired/reglued) and I can't afford to have it all done right now. The chairs will be done, but the tabletop will have to wait.

Is there something I can do myself to improve the look/condition of the tabletop that will not damage it further? The surface is crazed, and there are many light scratches. There are also two places where the finish was burned (each approximately the size of a dime). Finally, the veneer is chipped near the edges of the drop-leafs.

I would appreciate any advice/product recommendations. I don't expect to fix it completely, but I'd like to spruce it up until I can afford to have it professionally done.

Many thanks!
