Painting Veneir Furniture White..smooth finish?

Guys,

I have this bedroom furniture which has very light coat of Venier on it (color light wood grain). What I want to do is paint the entire furniture ultra pure white. What are my steps, my question are: 1. Do I need to stip the venier or just paint right over it? 2. I have to uswe the primer, do you use oil-based or latex based primer? 3. How do you get the surface to get a very smooth finish with the rollers, if haven't ever used the spray paint? 4. Actual paint color is white, do you need special furniture paint?

How do I do this correct so that I get best results. Any help from anybody will be greatly appreicated.

Thanks Pete
