In Response To: Re: Longcase clock glue (steve amato)

Thanks Steve and others who have assisted me with their replies. The substance dripping from behind the blocks is definitely old glue. Thinking back, it probably occurred when we were away for 5 weeks and the house was locked up. The temperature in the house could have been 40C+ (110F) for much of the time. The glue has now re-hardened with the cooler less humid conditions. The restorer that worked on the case a few months ago has had a look and says not to worry as, if it happens again and the blocks become loose, he can remove them, clean off the old glue, and re-glue with a glue that will handle the climate.

Thanks again, Geoff.
