Hey Steve, The only thing I could suggest further without seeing the object up close is that you probably are dealing with a spray finish. Dyes can be added to all finishes to achieve a certain color and sprayed on, but experience is needed to get there. If you're doing this yourself and you do not have hours logged in as a finisher the best bet is to tone/spray the wood with very little color at a time so that you don't over color the wood. Adjust the brown tones as you go. Have you considered redoing all the pieces at the same time for a perfect match. Maybe it's time to do them as well since the finish is 80 plus years old on those pieces.
