Right about simolar woods being favored by yhe powder post beetle, as for the piano, the finish on it is usually filled flush and that may prevent them entering it. I like the pheramone trap idea, if any have migrated onto other surfaces, the adults will show up in it and you can be shur they are all gone if they don't. Also the sheet of paper taped onto the back of somthing they have been on previously is a fair test. Good luck, James.
