Well I got anxious and started sanding with some light 360 grit paper. It didn't work very well so I stopped. This was after I had applied the liquid stripper that also didn't work. I applied that and gave it time to work(about 20 minutes). This is some tough alligator skin!

So after I quit the sanding, I just applied some stain in the areas that needed it. It's been a day and a half and it's still not dry!

I'm resolved to simply removing the undried stain and leaving the alligator skin and putting a little shelac.
