Some of these warps require major surgery. This can involve slicing the post down the middle and reglueing the post in a stright position. If you wish to go to this extreme it is very effective for what you describe. In very bad cases I will over compensate a bit, so that when it is unclamped it will spring back to the stright position. A filler piece the size of the saw kerf should be used and you will most likely need to touch-up the repair, or refinish the part completely. Good luck, James.
