The ornamentation may be made of ''compo'' which is a material made of glue, resins and linseed oil into which whiting is worked until a dough is formed. This is then pressed into moulds, removed, trimmed, and then applied to the frame while still pliable. There are still some companies that will sell compo mouldings-usually suppliers to the picture framing trade. (check the net) Otherwise you can cast copies of undamaged sections in dental grade plaster. Good luck--ml
