ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

17 pieces

I inherited a 17-piece furniture group of woven cane seats and backs, and mahogany; There's a large "sofa", 8 dining chairs, 2 "host" arm-chairs, and 4 Rocking arm-chairs, a marble top side table, and the dining table; All the wood is solid, no rot, no repairs needed, but the varnish finish on all pieces is scratched and damaged beyond touching up. All pieces need refinishing, a massive job. I don't want to deal with stripping chemicals, but I want to remove the ugly finish/varnish from all pieces, then refinish them all.

What are the options available to do this ? Is there any kind of non-lethal blasting that will remove the finish but not leave the wood marked ?

thanks.
