Amonia does darken brass quickly, all that is needed for this is a jar and some household amonia and a cotton ball, I think you get the picture? The fumes from the amonia soaked cotton ball are all that is needed to get an even tone on the piece, the jar keeps it all in one place. Time the pieces to mantain similarity, alloy the pieces room to breathe or you may get light spots. Rinse with warm water, buff lightly and lacquer to fix the color. Not all lacquer works, you want slow drying finish to avoid blushing or a hazy color.
