ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

bed rail extenders

After searching for 3 weeks and contacting 20 companies and websites, I finally went to my friendly local welder and had him extend the rails by adding a piece in the middle of the metal rail hooks. We took the metal pieces out so all he had to do was cut them and weld in an extension, in which he had drilled holes. We then cut boards to cover it and bolted them through the metal extensions. Cost: $30. I highly reccommend contacting a local welder to anyone who needs to extend the length of an antique bed.
