In Response To: Red finish (mary Howes)

Many of the victrola cabinets were mahogany veneer over pine or mahogany substrates. The cheaper models were often staine to look like mahogany. The red stain in both cases was usually aniline dye. If the wood is in good shape Minwax Dark Mahogany stain is a good match for the original color.
