In Response To: oak chairs restoration (Delphine)

Start by removing the seats including any webbing padding springs etc. Keep the best cover, one set of padding and any springs. The springs can be reused the other parts will serve as a pattern. The chairs should be stripped and refinished. Minwax makes a good wipe on varnish called Antique Oil. Put on 3-6 coats then lightly sand with 320 grit paper and put on 3 more coats followed by a light sanding then polish with 0000 steel wool.
