Asphaltum mixed with minieral spirits will get very close to the original color. You can buy asphaltum as roofing cement at any hardware or home supply store. Get the kind without fiber. You will need to develope your own mix as the amount needed will vary depending on the color and condition of the pieces you are working on. A good starting point is 8 oz. by volume of asphaltum in 1 qt. mineral spirits.
