In Response To: lacquer finish (j duke)

Depending on how heavy the buildup is you can sand or scrape to remove the heaviest portions the polish with a cotton rag wet with denature alcohol. Use about a 12"X12" piece of cotton folded down to palm size and change surfaces as it get dirty. You will remove some of the good portions as well, but if done carefully you will leave a film on the wood then you can add lacquer to rebuild the thhicknes needed to level.
